Summary
editDescriptionPonderosa Pine Cones (40398240032).jpg | 2017 was a record Ponderosa Pine cone crop at the Grouse Creek seed orchard! Over 70 bushels of cones were collected (1 bushel = 8 gallons). This surpassed our average cone crop by 65 bushels. There are 367 trees in the 3.4 acre orchard. The trees in the orchard were chosen from superior trees in the forest with good growth, disease and insect resistance. The seeds can be used to grow seedlings for the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, Nez Perce-Clearwater and Lolo national forests. |
