| Description |
Le quartier juif de la vieille ville de Boukhara s'étendait au sud de la place Liab-i-Haouz. La communauté juive de Boukhara était d'environ 4.000 personnes en 1832. Les juifs subissaient des contraintes importantes. Ils devaient porter un bonnet de fourrure carré, une cordelette autour du cou, ils ne pouvaient monter à cheval à l'intérieur des murs, ils payaient des impôts supplémentaires, etc. Au moment de l'Indépendance, la plupart des juifs ont quitté l'Ouzbékistan, le plus souvent pour aller habiter en Israël. Leurs maisons ont été rachetées par des ouzbeks, comme celle photographiée ci-dessus qui appartient à un commerçant. |
