Description
Nederlands: Afrikaanse man in Europese kledij. Staand, ten halven lijve, driekwart naar links gewend tegen een blauw-groene achtergrond. Hij draagt een rode baret (klapmuts) waarop een pelgrimsinsigne van Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe van Halle, bij Brussel. De man heeft een snor en baard, die in twee punten uitloopt. Hij draagt een wit hemd zonder kraag waarover een rood wambuis en een korte zwarte mantel (tabbaard) en witte, geitenleren handschoenen. Met zijn rechterhand omvat hij het rijk bewerkte gevest van zijn zwaard. Zijn linkerhand in zijn zij. Op zijn linkerheup een rijk geborduurde tas.

Français : ‘Portrait d'un homme africain’ — Huile sur panneau représentant un homme debout, à mi-corps, tourné de trois quarts vers la gauche sur un fond bleu-vert. Il porte un béret rouge avec une insigne de pèlerin de Notre-Dame de Hal (Halle), près de Bruxelles. Il porte une une moustache et une barbe qui se termine en deux pointes. Il porte également une chemise blanche sans col, sous un justaucorps rouge et un court manteau noir, le tabard* (tabbaard) et des gants blancs en peau de chèvre. De la main droite, il tient la poignée richement travaillée de son épée ; la main gauche est sur le flanc. Sur la hanche gauche un sac richement brodé.
