Die Portugese kapel in Malindi is in die 15de eeu deur die Portugese gebou. In 1542, tydens sy seetog na Indië, het St Francis Xavier twee van sy matrose in die aanliggende begraafplaas begrawe. Nadat die Portugese Malindi in 1593 verlaat het, was die kapel verlate totdat die Britte in 1893 opgedaag het. Die eerste Britse Malindi-distrikskommissaris, mnr. J. The Portuguese chapel in Malindi was built by the Portuguese in the 15th century. In 1542, during his journey to India, St. Francis Xavier buried two of his sailors in the adjoining graveyard. After the Portuguese left Malindi in 1593, the chapel was deserted until the British arrived in 1893. The first British Malindi District Commissioner, Mr. J. Bell Smith, was buried here in 1894, whereafter the graveyard has been used occasionally until 1958. Kiswahili: Kanisa la Wareno: Nyumba hii ni kanisa la wareno waliojenga karne ya 15. Makaburi yalio karibu ndipo Francis Xavier akielekea bara Hindi aliwazika askari wake wawili mwaka wa 1542. Baada ya wareno kuondoka Malindi Kanisa hili, liliacha kutumiwa hadi mwaka wa 1893 wakati wa enzi ya waingereza. Na ndipo kwenye Makaburi haya alikozikwa Bw J.
