Title
Post-Medieval to Modern Kosher Meat seal
Description
English: Lead seal. A small cast disc with a slot in one edge and a bifurcated slot in the opposite edge, to function as a drawstring attachment. On one side appears the Star of David [or Solomon], and on the other the numerals 580. Patinated. The Star marks this as a kosher meat seal, confirming that the animal or joint to which it was attached had been slaughtered in compliance with Judaic custom under rabbinical supervision. Suggested date: Post-Medieval to Modern, 1875-1925.

Diameter: 15.7mm, Thickness (at raised edge): 4.2mm, Weight: 2.60gms
