Title
Post Medieval cannon ball
Description
English: A ragstone cannon ball dating from the Late Medieval or Post Medieval period. It is sub-spherical and has part missing. It weighs 452g and is 76mm in diameter which makes it the correct size and weight for a Falconet cannon (15 and 7/8 ounces). Falconets were invented in the late 15th century and were used throughout the 16th and 17th centuries. The find spot of this example makes it highly likely that it was used in the Battle of Towton in 1461.
