Description

Canal Street, New Orleans. Postcard showing the 1895 snow.

The view is from the French Quarter side of the 700 block of Canal, looking out and up to the intersection of Carondelet. Rows of stranded trams are lined on the neutral ground. The metal tower was for an early system of electric lighting.
The only comparable snow in New Orleans history was in 1963.
