Sent by a nurse, Margaret Ripley, to her mother back in England. As far as I can tell (corrections and additions welcome) this reads: "Have started a letter to you but have left it at the Hospital unfinished & so as postage is 'rien' ['nothing' in French] can send card. Had a lovely walk this afternoon along sea & grand [???] quite warm again today am starting French lessons from one of the ladies at Hospital 4.30 to 5.30 so that will fill in time a bit. Still we are humpy[?]. Please send Illustrated[*] if possible. We feel quite out of everything here & think[?] Daily Mails a day old do not contain much & we only read headlines. French papers seem to have no news. The English Hospital here look so tempting we long to be in them but dare not go over them to make us more discontented. Mar"
