DescriptionPot stone and pebble spit - geograph.org.uk - 793086.jpg |
English: Pot stone and pebble spit. Flint nodules such as the one seen here are called paramoudras, also known as pot stones. These large nodules once were embedded in the chalk layer and originally had a central core that was filled with chalk. Once exposed, the soft chalk is quickly washed out by wave action, leaving a large hole. Pot stones can occasionally be spotted in gardens where they serve as nature-made flower pots. |
