DescriptionPreserved Belfast Corporation bus 2857 (EOI 4857) 1973 Daimler Fleetline Alexander (Belfast), Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, 11 January 2012.jpg |
English: Preserved Belfast Corporation bus 2857 (EOI 4857), a 1973 Daimler Fleetline double-decker with Alexander (Belfast) bodywork, pictured in the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum based in Cultra, Northern Ireland. It was new to the Corporation and was originally a dual-door bus; it passed into the fleet of Citybus when it took over the Corporation's services in 1973. A year later it was destroyed in January 1974, but the chassis was recovered and the bus was rebodied by Alexander's by April 1976, this time as a single-doored bus. The last Fleetlines were withdrawn from the Citybus fleet in 1989 with the exception of this bus, which remained for a further 5 years as a tour bus on the company's Belfast City Tour. After being finally withdrawn in March 1994, it passed to the museum in April 1995, and is pictured here having been restored to Belfast Corporation livery with a single-door. The black registration plate is apparently anachronistic, the EOI registered batch of Fleetlines had white backed reflective front plates, not the older black design. According to this, it's one of only two buses in the museum's road transport collection, the other being the corporation trolleybus 112 (reg. FZ 7897), which it's pictured here next to. |
