| Description |
English: Up side of Preston station, with Workington - Manchester express. View northward, towards Carlisle on the WCML also Blackpool: ex-LNW & L&Y (North Union) main lines. A general 'atmospheric' scene on a Summer Saturday from the footbridge [unfortunately not sharp] at the south end along Platform 6, where another Up express is appearing. The 13.10 Workington/Whitehaven - Manchester express is coming away from No. 7 line, headed by Stanier 5MT 4-6-0 No. 45244 (built 1936, withdrawn - early, in 8/63). On the right are the carriage sidings of the East Lancashire part of the station. |
