She is depicted seated in a gilded wooden armchair in front of a girdle on which her crown is placed on a red cushion with gold braids and tassels, against a theatrical backdrop of curtains emblazoned with elegant light-red folds, her bust turned slightly to the right, her face facing the horizon. Her Serene Highness is presented wearing a perfectly powdered wig and a grey silk dress with turquoise and emerald lace and bows, to which the medallion of the Order of the Star Cross of the Holy Roman Empire is attached with a black ribbon on the left breast. This Star Cross medallion allows us to identify with certainty Her Serene Highness Marie Victoire d'Arenberg, Margravine of Baden-Baden. The Star Cross is an order reserved for women from whom sixteen quarters of nobility were required on both the paternal and maternal sides. The order was created in 1668 and its Grand Mistress was the Empress of the Holy Roman Empire, then of Austria-Hungary, and was awarded until November 1918. Only six women were admitted during the 18th century, including Her Serene Highness Marie Victoire d'Arenberg, Margravine of Baden-Baden on 7 December 1735. The other five were Princess Josèphe-Anne d'Arenberg, Princess Adélaïde d'Arenberg, Anne-Charlotte de Lorraine abbess of Remiremont and Mons, Countess Thérèse de Richecourt and Marquise de Tissona de Crescentin and Princess Elisabeth Philippine Claudine de Hornes, but only Her Serene Highness Marie Victoire d'Arenberg, Margravine of Baden-Baden, corresponds to the facial features of the portal."
