Kommentar: Dieser Doppeldukat wurde unter König Friedrich I. (1701-1713) auf die Hochzeit des Thronfolgers Friedrich Wilhelm mit Sophia Dorothea von Hannover am 28. November 1706 geprägt, übrigens nicht in Berlin, sondern in der Münzstätte Magdeburg. Außer Doppeldukaten wurden auch Dukaten und Halbdukaten hergestellt. Der Vater von Sophia Dorothea bestieg 1714 als Georg I. den englischen Thron. Sophia Dorothea war nach der Thronbesteigung ihres Gatten Friedrich Wilhelm I., des Soldatenkönigs, Kurfürstin von Brandenburg und Königin in Preußen. Sie gebar 15 Kinder und war die Mutter Friedrichs II. von Preußen, des Großen. Sie residierte im Sommer und nach dem Tod des Gatten auf Schloss Monbijou, gegenüber der heutigen Museumsinsel gelegen, das ab 1877 das Hohenzollern-Museum beherbergte. 1945 wurde es zum Großteil zerstört und später abgerissen.
