English: The 1st class War Cross awarded to the township of Preveza in 1942.
  • The translation of the Greek text of the award has as follows:
    Kingdom of Greece.
    By decree of the 19th February 1942,
    the Township of Preveza
    is awarded the 1st Class War Cross
    at the suggestion of the General Commander of the Military Base of Preveza,
    because its people proved to have the required patriotic and enthusiastic strength,
    during the entire period of the 96 bombing operations,
    despite the lasting and persistent danger day and night,
    and continuously contributing to the military efforts,
    and standing as an example of self-sacrifice.

    Διότι κατά πρότασιν τοῦ Στρατηγοῦ Διοικητοῦ τῆς Στρατιωτικῆς Βάσεως Πρεβέζης οἱ κάτοικοι ταύτης καθ’ ὅλην
    τὴν διάρκειαν τῶν ἐπιχειρήσεων ὑπό τὸν διαρκῆ καὶ ἐπίμονον κίνδυνον ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτός 96 βομ-
    βαρδισμῶν, ἀπέδειξαν τὴν ἐπιβαλλομένην πατριωτικήν καὶ ἐνθουσιώδη ἀντοχήν συμβαλόντες
    συνεχῶς εἰς τὰς στρατιωτικάς προσπαθείας καὶ αἱρόμενου     [sic] εἰς παράδειγμα αὐτοθυσίας.
