NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (May 8, 2013) The 1,050-metric ton gantry crane at Newport News Shipbuilding lifts the forward end of one of the catapults of the aircraft carrier Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) into place. This completes more than three years of structural work making the primary hull structure of the aircraft carrier 100 percent complete.
