English: A portrait of Prince Rafi al-Darjat (1699-1719, r. Feb-June 1719), the successor to Emperor Farrukhsiyar and puppet ruler of the Sayyid brothers. Facing right, he wears a long orange jama with green and gold leaf motifs, dark red leather boots and a gold, red and green plumed turban decorated with pearls. In his right hand he holds a jewelled bazuband (arm band) and the left rests on the hilt of his tulwar sword.
The painting has been extended at the top with the addition of a dark sky. |
