English: The Prince and Princess of Wales returning to Stockport Tiviot Dale railway station after opening Stockport Town Hall. The carriage is passing the William Timpson shoe shop. The road is likely Heaton Lane, later renamed Prince's Street in honour of the royal visit, as it formed part of their route through the town. [1]

This file comes from the Stockport Image Archive, a collection of images from the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport and surrounding areas dating back to the late 1800s. Records consist of archival photographs and sketches from the Council's Local Heritage Library and donations from the local public. The archive does also contain copyrighted images, so care must be taken when transferring images across to Commons.
