Description
English: Emergency money from Møgeltønder. Text in Danish but issued in German denomination (50 Pfennig [Penning]). The other side of the same note carries text in both German and Danish and an illustration of the two Golden Horns of Gallehus. Local emergency notes in South Jutland [Zone I of the Schleswig Plebiscite areas] were replaced by standard Danish currency on 20 May 1920.[1] Reunification with Denmark took place in June 1920.
Dansk: Nødpengeseddel fra Møgeltønder udstedt i forbindelse med Folkeafstemningen om Nord- og Mellemslesvigs tilhørsforhold efter 1. Verdenskrig. Afstemningen i den 1. zone - mellem Kongeåen og den nuværende grænse - skete d. 10. februar 1920. Sedlens forside bærer dansk tekst men beløbet er i tysk valuta (50 Pfennig [Penning]). Sedlens bagside bærer tekst på både tysk og dansk og et billede af de to guldhorn fra Gallehus. Nødpengesedlerne i Nordslesvig blev d. 20. maj 1920 erstattet af dansk valuta.[2] Selve genforeningen med Danmark skete i juni 1920.
