Le canal de Saint-Jeanpasse au bas de ce pavillon, et sqs eaux font jouerla pompe et forment en cet endroit une cascade. En côtoyant, par une route plantée darbres,le canal de Saint-Jean, qui est presque parallèleau grand canal, et qui nen est séparé que parune belle prairie, on arrive au grand jet. Le grand Jet est placé dans un bosquet oùse trouve aussi la statue pédestre, en pierre, dugrand Condé, élevée sur un piédestal. Au mi-lieu de ce bosquet est une grande pièce deaucarrée, doù part un jet étonnant par sa hauteur,et qui sélève jusquà soixante pieds. Les grandes Cascades soffrent bientôt à lavue. Le jeu de leurs eaux forme le spectacle leplus animé et le plus magnifique ; elles sélèvent,tombent, et se reproduisent sous cent formesdifférentes. O AA ( 49 )impétuosité une gerbe entourée de huit jets. Ceseaux forment quatre nappes qui sélargissent entombant, et présentent une pyramide environnéede quinze jets. Ce lieu est entouré de quatre gradins couvertsdun tapis de gazon fleuri et animé par le jeudes eaux de huit guéridons et de sLx fontainesqui se versent dans des cuvettes. Un autre bassin, placé au dessus, présentetreize jets. Les eaux jaillissantes de huit candé-labres fournissent à dix mascarons , dont huittiennent lieu de chapiteaux à des espèces de gai-nes sculptées en congélations. Les entre-pilas-tres , rocaillés, présentent six buffets deau quifournissent aux jets de deux dragons et dunmascaron. Cette première partie de la cascade est ter-minée 5 en cet endroit, par un troisième bassinoctogone, dans lequel sélèvent cinq jets symé-triquement disposes.
