English: Purton Lower Bridge. On the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. There is another swing bridge (Purton Upper Bridge) not far downstream of here. The Upper Bridge carries a minor road from Purton to fields which belonged belonging to the Berkeley family, who insisted the bridge was provided in spite of the close proximity to the Lower Bridge. |
