English: Church of Sainte-Famille, Granby, Montérégie, Quebec, Canada. In 1930, when the Church of Notre-Dame was becoming too small to welcome the 9000 catholic parishioners of Granby, the Parish of Sainte-Famille (Holy Family) was founded, taking over 3800 followers and 755 families. The church was constructed between September 1930 and Christmas 1931, in a neo-gothic style according to the design of architect Louis-Napoléon Audet of Sherbrooke author of many important buildings in Quebec and New Brunswick. Its cost of $420,000 was mainly financed by donations from the Catholic French Canadians which formed three quarters of Granby population at the time. |
