| Object history |
Donated to Brighton Museum by Wlliam S Proctor in 1935. A note in the accession register reads: 'Asked for further information, Mr Proctor replied, 9th Sept 1935: "A brother of mine, who has lived in South Africa for some years, gave me the beadwork when I was out there in 1912. He told me it had come from Bechuanaland, and that it had come into his possession, as far as I can recollect, about 1910."' Collections from the Bechuanaland Protectorate, now the Republic of Botswana, are the focus of the 2019 Making African Connections research project. |
