DescriptionRAF Elmdon aerial photograph WWII IWM HU 93046.jpg |
English: IWM caption : Oblique aerial view of RAF Elmdon, Warwickshire, seen from the north-west. A broad concrete taxiway (lower left) leads from the Austin Motors Ltd assembly sheds (partly visible at bottom left), under the Coventry-Birmingham railway line, to the airfield perimeter. Short Stirlings (and, later, Avro Lancasters) built at Austin's Longbridge plant were assembled here and tested at Elmdon before their delivery flights. Note the attempt to camouflage the grass airfield with a field pattern and hedegrows. |
