Description
English: A member of the Royal National LifeBoat Institute reaches out to a Royal Navy winchman from a Sea King helicopter during a night time exercise off the Cornish coast.

RNAS Culdrose's 771 Search and Rescue aircraft are tasked weekly by the Coastguard, to assist the emergency agencies including Fire Brigade, Ambulance service and lifeguards, with the search and rescue of injured and stranded people around the coast of Cornwall.

Training exercises such as these not only test the pilot's ability to keep the aircraft in the hover, but also the winchmen, who have to be lowered in all weather conditions.
