Potrivit anexei nr. 1.6, stema comunei Sâncraiu de Mureș se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, tăiat de un brâu undat de argint.

În partea superioară se află un zid de cărămidă roșie.

În vârful scutului, în câmp albastru, se află o crăiță de aur, flancată de câte un spic de grâu cu tulpină, de aur.

Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu un turn crenelat.

Semnificațiile elementelor însumate

Zidul de cărămidă roșie reprezintă monumentele din zonă (bazilica romană, mănăstirea paulină) și principala activitate economică, industria construcțiilor și a materialelor de construcție.

Crăița, floare aflată în fiecare grădină a ținutului, și brâul undat reprezintă râul Mureș. Brâul redă motivele decorative străvechi ale ceramicii descoperite în siturile din localitate.

Cele două spice de grâu simbolizează cultura cerealieră de tradiție.

Coroana murală cu un turn crenelat semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de comună.
