Italiano: Maschera Idiok Epo - Maschera facciale tinta in nero a mascella mobile con denti in mostra. Ampia fronte bombata attraversata da linea verticale zigrinata (motivo scarificale ripreso anche ai lati del volto, in prossimità delle orecchie). Occhi aperti e forati posti al di sotto di una grande arcata sopraccigliare aggettante. Naso a sezione triangolare con larghe narici.

Le maschere idiok ekpo sono volutamente "brutte": sono di colore scuro (nero o blu) e hanno forme rudi talvolta somiglianti a teschi, denti digrignati e mascelle mobili che sbattono minacciosamente. Appaiono la notte e si agitano freneticamente. Le loro sembianze sono quelle che si attribuiscono agli spiriti malevoli. Personificano i morti che hanno condotto una cattiva vita.

La società maschile Ekpo ha lo scopo di garantire l'ordine sociale avvalendosi dell'apporto degli antenati (ekpo significa proprio "antenato"). L'associazione si prende cura dell'iniziazione dei giovani e svolge funzioni di difesa, controllo e governo della comunità.
