Description
Italiano: STATUA BITEKI - Figura antropomorfa fasciata con tessuto dal collo alle ginocchia. Al collo un talismano in fibre vegetali. La testa persenta ampia fronte bombata con copricapo, occhi a chicco di caffè posti entro grandi cavità orbitali, largo naso triangolare con setto sottile, bocca protuberante, grandi orecchie sporgenti. Queste figure dotate di potenza (la ""medicina"" contenuta in una cavità ricavata nel ventre e i diversi materiali che sono fissati intorno alla figura) che attiva la figura mettendola in connessione con gli spiriti) sono possedute dall'indovino (nganga ngombe) che le scolpisce in prima persona. Le statuine sono conservate nella sua capanna, anche dopo la morte del propietario per essere poi distrutte quando l'abitazione crolla naturalmente (Adelman 1975).
