English: Gulbransen radio, 1949 tall rectangular radio with rounded corners consisting of two sided covers of dark red bakelite and a central panel of gold painted metal. on the front there are two cream bakelite control knobs on either side. On the central panel is a speaker grill at the bottom and tuning window to the top with embossed star above. On the top of the radio is a folding pressed metal handle with cream bakelite grip. There are several louvres pressed into the top and bottom rear. A white plastic covered electric cord with black bakelite plug extends from the base. embossed front centre panel "Gulbransen" partial paper decal on base, mostly destroyed. Embossed on plug "Sperryn - MADE IN ENGLAND - 10 AMP - 250V". Gulbransen was an Australian maker based in Sydney and not related to American company of the same name.
