Description |
English: In Washington state, Prohibition lasted from 1916 until 1933. During that time, making, selling, owning, or drinking alcoholic beverages was against the law. Local police and federal agents made regular raids and arrests. In this image, four Japanese men stand, with two white men behind them, among the ruins of an illegal distillery after a raid. On the ground are pieces of a still, and several broken wooden crates with "Grape Juice" stamped on the sides, with glass bottles sticking out of them, .
