ss the car, betweenwhich there is riveted the triangular gus-set to stiffen the side sheets to which it isriveted by means of an angle, with anoutside special I. Between these main cross-ties and the has been abandoned and a four-point sup-port substituted therefor, with no weightat all carried on the center plates. Thisis an innovation that was only adoptedafter a trial of several months had beenmade with some heavy tenders, where theefifects and working could be carefullywatched. It was found that, with a carof the dimensions of this one, there wasyield enough to the metal of the body topermit the necessary movement of thetrucks without straining the metal of thebody beyond its elastic lunit.
