Randy passe le plus souvent ses hivers au large des îles britanniques, mais il fait souvent sa tournée des plages au début de l’été. Il s’agit d’un mâle âgé d’environ 35 ans et pesant plus de 300 kilos, repéré pour la première fois en 2001 près des Sables d’Olonnes (Vendée).
