Description Portrait of Maori chief, Rangui. The Astrolabe (captained by Dumont d'Urville, Jules Sebastien Cesar, 1790-1842) anchored in Whangarei Harbour on 22 February 1827. Rangui, son of Tekoke, the leading chief of the Pahia tribe on the Bay of Islands, and one of his lieutenants, named Natai, came on board. Orginal title:Rangui, l'un des chefs de Shouraki (Nouvelle Zelande). This version cropped, levels adjusted in Photoshop.
