Zusammen gründeten sie den Pelzveredlungsbetrieb „Schkeuditzer Rauchwaren-Zurichterei und Bleicherei“, in dem beide Ehefrauen anfangs mitarbeiteten. Der Sohn W. Heinz Kretzschmar wurde nach 1949 Geschäftsführer der „Rauchwaren-Genossenschaft Schkeuditz“ mit 30 Handwerksbetrieben. Er verfasste das als Karnevalslied gedachte „Schkeuditz, mein Schkeuditz“.
