English: Rebecca memorial, Efailwen The stone stands at the southern end of the village marking the site of the tollgate, which, on 6th June 1839, was the first to be attacked and taken down by the Rebecca 'rioters', or activists, protesting against the unfair and extortionate fees being charged for use of the turnpike roads.
