Summary edit

Description
English: Reckitt's Chimney, Morley Street. This photo, taken in 1983, shows 'Reckitt's Chimney'. It was built in the early 1970s for use on the ultramarine ('Reckitts Blue' - blue pigment) factory to disperse by-products. It still stands today but is no longer owned by Reckitts. I believe that when the 450' (137m) chimney was built using the continuous concrete pouring method, it had the largest height to width ratio of any chimney in the world. Construction took place in the winter months and was subject to strong winds which, due to the method of construction, have given the chimney obvious 'kinks' in places when viewed from certain angles! The waterway in the picture is the River Hull. The chimney is situated in the NW corner of the square.
