Summary edit

Description
English: Regent Outside Reading Station, near to Reading, Great Britain.

Reading Transport 304, an AEC Regent, stands outside Reading station on a foggy January morning. A pleasant change from the standard Reading passenger fleet at the time which consisted of Metro-Scania vehicles, some of which are parked at the stops behind. On the left, Royal Mail BMC vans are parked outside the station, along with a rail-airlink bus for Heathrow.

304 is an AEC Regent III with Park Royal bodywork and therefore a close relative of the traditional London bus. At the time that this photograph was taken 304, and sister vehicle 303, were employed on Reading's last remaining conductor operated bus route. Both vehicles regularly attended bus rallies and have subsequently found their way into preservation. Thanks are due to Graham Horn and Alan Murray-Rust, both Geograph contributors, for their input on this photo. I'm also pleased to report that they both had the pleasure of driving this vehicle whilst it was in service.
