| Description |
English: Remains of Chailey Marine Hospital Built in 1924 as an extension of Chailey Heritage Hospital founded originally to provide for disabled and other handicapped children. The idea was to build a small hospital on the seafront as it was believed sea air was healthy. The foundations to the right were for the actual hospital whilst those further on the left were for the nurses home. Whilst the foundations were concrete the buildings were wooden. The hospital was evacuated and demolished with the rest of Tide Mills in 1940. The embankment on the extreme left was built to hold the waters of the mill pond in whilst Seaford lies straight ahead. |
