A steep and dirty set of metal stairs ascends to the left while a set of concrete stairs ascends to the right.

1. The submarine stairs have been replaced with a new route to the upper level on the Domes and Dripstones tour route. The reroute provides an easier path for visitors and for emergency response to this section of Mammoth Cave.
