Description
English: Portrait of Bernardo Ramires Esquível (1723-1812), painted in the late 18th-century by commission of the Marquis of Pombal (currently in the Central Library of the Navy, in Portugal). To Esquível's left, a piece of paper reads "His Excellency, Bernardo Ramires Esquível, 1st Baron of Arruda and Admiral of the Navy". Esquível is depicted sitting on the chair he always had carried aboard his ships.

Do lado esquerdo de Esquível está um papel onde se lê: "Excelentíssimo Senhor Bernardo Ramires Esquível, 1.º Barão da Arruda e Almirante da Marinha". Esquível encontra-se representado sentado na cadeira que levava sempre para bordo dos navios.
