Description
Retrato de cuerpo entero del empresario y coleccionista español Ramón de Errazu (1840-1904), que fue amigo personal y cliente de Madrazo, a quien compró y encargó numerosas obras. La sencillez de la composición, calificada como “velazqueña” por su parecido con algunas obras del pintor Diego Velázquez, y el profundo conocimiento que el artista tenía del carácter del personaje, contribuyen a dar una total naturalidad y elegancia al conjunto del modelo, en parte idealizado, por la verticalidad y estrechez del formato utilizado con profusión entre los retratistas franceses del último tercio del siglo XIX.
