Also for his son William born in Newcastleton in 1850 and lost at sea off the coast of China in 1870. Also John Waddell their 4th son born in 1859, a minister in Canada, died in Boston, US in 1912. Also Mary, elder daughter, born in 1853 and died in Canada in 1912. Also Mary Beattie, his wife who died in Edinburgh 1898 and Agnes their younger daughter who died in 1939. A pair of swallows have built a nest under the overhang of the arch of the memorial |
