Argent et incrustations d'or. Royaume hittite, époque impériale. Anatolie centrale (actuelle Turquie). 1400-1200 avant J.-C. <
New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art. Don de Norbert Schimmel Trust, 1989. 1989.281.10 Exposé au Musée du Louvre en 2019 pour l'exposition "Royaumes oubliés".English: Rhyton (drinking vessel) in the shape of a deer. Silver and gold inlays. Hittite kingdom, Imperial era. Central Anatolia (now Turkey). 1400-1200 BC.
Among the Hittites, the deer was linked to the god of the wild world, Kuruntiya, or en:Kurunta. The neck of the vase is decorated with a frieze representing a religious ceremony: three men are coming forward carrying offerings for the two deities facing them. One of these deities, mounted on a deer, is the god Kuruntiya, identified by a hieroglyphic inscription. New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art.
