English: Richard Ellis, British troops in Malta ca. 1890. A mixed lot of infantry, artillery, highlanders, possibly Marines and a Royal Navy officer and sailors. Plus some civilians.The sailors are wearing Sennit hat, that remain in use even till 1922, the Seargent are wearing the British kepi, or as referred to as the Station Master's cap, the round cap is a pill-box or forrage cap (officially discarded between 1902 and 1904), the RN officer the soft peaked cap, and the Highlanders or Royal Marines a glengarry.
