Saw this massive building when we got off the coach. It is in front of the mountains Thought it was a massive church but it is probably the Hydroelectric Power Station Ponale. It is on Via Giacomo Cis. In Via Cis, at the foot of Monte Rocchetta, we find the HYDROELECTRIC POWER STATION PONALE (E 20) projected by the local architect Giancarlo Maroni. It exploits the waters of Lake Ledro, load basin, after a fall of 500 m. The first perforation for the Ledro-Garda Hydroelectric Power Station was opened in 1926 by the famous Italian poet Gabriele D'Annunzio. Riva del Garda Location: TN Operator: Enel SpA Configuration: 2 X 22 MW Pelton, 2 X 25 MW Operation: 1929-1955 T/G supplier: Sulzer Escher Wyss Quick facts: Riva del Garda is on the River Ponale between Lake Ledro and Lake Garda in Trentino. The plant was refurbished in 1998. <a href="http://www.industcards.com/hydro-italy-n.htm" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Hydro Italy</a> Thought it was a church becasue of that statue out front, with the latin text above it. |
