| Description |
English: River Cherwell: weir at Parson's Pleasure. As well as maintaining water depth in the upper reaches of the river (which are indeed deep immediately above this point) the weir allows an upper channel, flowing towards the right, to feed a mill a little downstream. On the left, the rollers that allow punts to be dragged past the weir. Between the two upright barriers (which I assume are to prevent people pushing a punt down the slope from running into the water), a heron is standing on the weir apron. |
