| Description |
English: River Irwell. The view downstream from Woden Street footbridge. The banks of the river here used to be lined with warehouses and factories, as can be seen on the 1940's OS map. As the river rounds the distant bend it becomes the Manchester Ship Canal and Manchester's Pomona Docks were located there on the left bank. A little further downstream, on the right bank, were the much bigger Manchester Docks - actually in Salford - now re-born as Salford Quays. SJ825973. |
