On peut y admirer une exposition permanente de sculptures du XXe siècle par des artistes de renom international » « Robert Indiana est un artiste Pop américain qui tire son inspiration de la typographie qu’il voit sur des signes, des panneaux publicitaires ou encore des logos. Il est surtout connu pour son LOVE, aux lettres empilées en caractères gras intitulé O, qui apparaît sur un timbre postal en 1973 et dans de nombreuses sculptures en acier à travers le monde. Né Robert Earl Clark le 13 septembre 1928 à New Castle dans l’État de l’Indiana, Indiana prend comme pseudonyme le nom de son État et, après son service militaire, il prend des cours pour finir sa licence à la School of the Art Institute de Chicago en 1954. Plus tard cette année, il déménage à New York, puis voyage et étudie en Europe. Sur les conseils d’Ellsworth Kelly, il s’installe dans le Lower Manhattan et se rapproche d’autres grands artistes comme Agnes Martin, Jack Youngerman et James Rosenquist. Dans les années 1960, Indiana commence à peindre des mots simples, souvent composés de trois ou quatre lettres et réalise les œuvres pour lesquelles il est le plus connu. En septembre 2013, le Whitney Museum of American Art accueille la première rétrospective de son travail à New York.
