Italiano: Félicien Rops (Namur 1833 – Essonnes 1898) Deplorable attitude

Cera molle e puntasecca Misure lastra mm1200 × 138; foglio mm 520 × 340

Incisore, litografo, disegnatore e pittore belga. E’ universalmente riconosciuto come uno dei più importanti e affascinanti esponenti dell’arte simbolista. I suoi primi lavori denotano l’influenza di Daumier e Gavarni manifestando una spiccata nota caricaturale. Nel 1854 fonda il giornale satirico “Uylenspiegel”. Successivamente Rops concentrerà le sue attenzioni sui temi della donna e dell’erotismo affiancandoli a quello dalla morte. La figura della “donna diabolica” sarà per l’autore un vera e propria ossessione, diventando simbolo di ambiguità e rovina e comparendo nella quasi totalità della sua produzione. Impressione eccellente nell’unico stato. Perfetto stato di conservazione. Ampi margini.
