Summary edit

Description
English: Rosedale Intake, above Danby The peaty marshes of the North York Moors act as a giant sponge for the moisture squeezed out of the clouds. This moisture is gathered into pools and streams and eventually rivers and flowing either north through the river Esk at Whitby or south via rivers Derwent, Ouse and Humber. This photograph shows some of the moisture waiting to be captured, plus the typical "spongy" grounds.
