| Description |
English: Rough stuff, Pibble Hill A dyke runs up the southwest side of Pibble Hill. Northwest of the wall the going is pure Galloway, a relentless struggle against bog, heather and tussock. Often these changes in character is down to the geology. From what I observed in my walk, Pibble Hill is on the boundary of granite, and rock changed by the heat from the granite. When the underlying rock is the infertile acid granite, the going gets hard.
Note the self seeded sitka, a long way from a plantation. |
